We, the...

Scientific research doesn't occur in an Ivory Tower -- all actions have consequences, and scientists often clash with the general public on what is right.

José Cibelli, a cloning expert at the Michigan State University, East Lansing, says there is no clear reason why techniques to make human embryonic stem cells through nuclear transfer need be very different from those used in non-human primates. But he cautions that "what works in rhesus monkeys doesn't work in baboons."

It's inevitable, I suppose.

Anyone read CJ Cherryh?

Thanks. My mistake in choosing category.

The post was meant as a subtle tease on nature's news editing, so, it doesn't fit this category either :(

No worries dude. But I think it's an interesting discussion anyway...if we can lure some dwellers down this far...

One of the big issues to overcome with anything like this is the loss of human identity. It's easy to start with, say, an organ grown in an animal using chimeic stem cells, but where would draw the line? We can even look at the Christian view of ensoulment if one takes this down the line towards reproductive cloning...

...anybody wanna jump in here...anybody... Bueller...Bueller....

:)
