Some collaborators of my friend in the lab next door just bailed out after two years, saying things weren't going fast enough and they wanted to cut their losses. It's devastating because her lab is doing really well but they can't do the technique that the other lab was providing and are now scrabbling for replacements. It will set them back at least a year and my friend really needs the paper. So that's one of the dangers I guess.
